The FREECOM 4X offers an upgraded intercom range of up to 1.2km / 0.75mi for up to 4 riders and features Natural Voice Operation.
What is Live Intercom?
Live Intercom, available on the FREECOM X line, is an auto-reconnecting HD audio Bluetooth intercom. It allows riders to automatically reconnect when they return within range without pressing a button. Automatic reconnection is supported during up to 10 minutes out of range.
What are the advantages of Bluetooth 5.2?
Bluetooth 5.2 enables the integration of advanced audio technologies and significantly improves intercom quality. It also provides improved efficiency, security, faster pairing capabilities, and longer battery performance.
Will my unit fit my helmet?
Yes. The FREECOM 2X can be fitted to virtually any helmet, including full-face, dirt-bike, open-face, 3/4, modular, and half helmets. Installation on half helmets requires a Half Helmet Kit, sold separately.
How can I update my unit?
The software can be updated Over the Air using the Cardo Connect App. Open the app on your mobile phone, go to Settings, select your unit, and choose the latest available software update. The unit can also be updated using a USB cable and the Cardo Update App on a computer. It is recommended to update the unit before first use.
Can I use my unit in the rain?
Yes. The Cardo FREECOM 2X is waterproof and designed to provide reliable communication in wet riding conditions.
How long does it take to charge my unit?
With Fast Charging, you can get up to 2 hours of talk time after only 20 minutes of charging. A full charge takes up to 2 hours.
How can I get more run-time out of my battery?
The Cardo unit supports charging while riding. You can connect it to a power bank or motorcycle power source and continue using the unit beyond its standard battery runtime.
Can I replace the battery in my unit?
Do not attempt to disassemble or replace the battery yourself, as doing so may damage the waterproof protection of the unit. If the battery is not holding a charge, charge the unit for at least 4 hours and try a different wall charger and USB cable. If the problem continues, contact Cardo support.
The unit does not seem to be charging or the battery does not last as long as it should. What should I do?
Connect the unit to the charger and leave it charging for at least 4 hours. If the issue continues, try a different wall charger and USB cable. Do not open or attempt to repair the unit yourself, as this can compromise its waterproof protection and may cause damage from water, dirt, or other environmental conditions.
How do I make sure that my unit’s battery lasts as long as possible?
Do not leave the unit unused or in storage for more than 3 months without charging. For maximum battery life, charge the unit for approximately 4 hours at least once every 3 months.
Which mobile app do I need to download?
The Cardo Connect App is used to configure your unit, control functions from your smartphone, and perform Over-the-Air software updates.
Does the SPIRIT line connect to other generation Cardo units?
Yes. Cardo communication systems can connect to other Cardo units through universal Bluetooth connectivity. Freecom+ and Packtalk units can connect with SPIRIT units using regular Bluetooth pairing, while G and Q units need to be in phone pairing mode before pairing.
How do I pair to a non-Cardo headset using universal connectivity?
Start intercom pairing on your Cardo unit according to the pocket guide or user manual. On the other Bluetooth headset, start mobile phone pairing and wait for the pairing process to complete.
How do I activate Sound by JBL and sound profiles?
Sound by JBL and the available sound profiles are pre-activated in the FREECOM X communicator. Sound profiles can be selected through the audio settings in the Cardo Connect App.
Can I listen to music and be part of the intercom at the same time?
Yes. Music streaming and intercom can operate simultaneously. When another rider speaks through the intercom, the Cardo unit automatically lowers the music volume so the conversation can be heard clearly.
Something stopped working on my FREECOM X unit. What should I do?
Before trying other solutions, reset the unit to factory settings. Press the Intercom, Media, and Mobile buttons together for at least 5 seconds until the LED starts flashing purple and the unit turns off. Then turn the unit back on.
Why can’t I get the full range of Intercom out of my unit?
The stated intercom range is tested under optimal conditions. Actual range can be affected by obstacles and environmental factors such as mountains, trees, power lines, riding environment, topography, cellular towers, and line of sight.
Are there limitations in using music sharing?
Music sharing is possible between FREECOM X and SPIRIT units, but it is not possible to share music with other generations of Cardo units.
Is it possible to use my own earbuds or speakers?
Yes. In addition to the supplied speakers, compatible earbuds or aftermarket speakers can be connected through the standard 3.5mm jack port.
Do I need a phone to operate my unit?
The intercom and FM radio functions are phone independent. A phone or another Bluetooth media player is required for music streaming and a phone is required for making and receiving calls.
How can I get more range from the intercom?
The stated range is based on optimal conditions. Actual range may be affected by the riding environment, topography, high-voltage power lines, cellular towers, and line of sight.
How can I improve my sound quality?
For the best sound quality, position the speakers directly opposite your ear canals. With the helmet on, identify the position directly beside your ears and place the speakers there. Make sure the speakers are as close to your ears as possible. If necessary, use the included Velcro booster pads to bring the speakers closer.
If your helmet's ear cavities are not positioned optimally, the speakers may be positioned outside the cavities directly opposite your ears for improved audio performance.
What warranty does Cardo offer?
Cardo offers a 2-year warranty starting from the date of purchase, covering product failures as detailed in the applicable warranty documentation. Keep your proof of purchase for warranty claims.
