How can I improve my sound quality?

Sound quality is best when the speakers are positioned directly opposite your ear canal. With the helmet on, slide your finger inside the helmet and press against the side where your ear is located. This is where the speakers should be positioned.

Remove the helmet while keeping your finger in that position and check that the speakers are correctly placed. Position the speakers as close to your ears as possible. If necessary, use the included Velcro booster pads behind the speakers to bring them closer to your ears.

Since helmet ear cavities differ between models, the speakers may sometimes perform better when positioned outside the ear cavities directly opposite your ears.

Can I use my unit in the rain?

Yes. The Cardo FREECOM 4X is waterproof and designed to provide reliable communication in rainy and other challenging riding conditions.

How long does it take to charge my unit?

The unit features Fast Charging. You can get up to 2 hours of talk time after only 20 minutes of charging. A full charge takes up to 2 hours.

How can I get more run-time out of my battery?

The Cardo unit supports charging while riding. Connect the unit to a power bank or motorcycle power source and continue using it beyond the standard battery runtime.

Can I replace the battery in my unit?

Do not attempt to disassemble or replace the battery yourself. Replacing the battery may damage the waterproof protection of the system. If the unit is not holding a charge, connect it to the charger and leave it charging for at least 4 hours. You can also try a different wall charger and USB cable. If the problem continues, contact Cardo support.

The unit does not seem to be charging or the battery does not last as long as it should. What should I do?

Connect the unit to the charger and leave it charging for at least 4 hours. If this does not resolve the issue, try using a different wall charger and USB cable. Do not attempt to disassemble, open, or replace parts yourself, as this may compromise the waterproof protection and expose the electronics to water, dirt, and other damage.

How do I make sure that my unit’s battery lasts as long as possible?

We recommend not leaving the unit unused or in storage for more than 3 months without charging. Charge the unit for approximately 4 hours at least once every 3 months to help maintain maximum battery life.

Which mobile app do I need to download?

The Cardo Connect App allows you to configure your unit, control functions from your smartphone, and perform Over-the-Air software updates.

Does the SPIRIT line connect to other generation Cardo units?

Yes. Cardo communication systems connect with other Cardo units through universal Bluetooth connectivity. Freecom+ and Packtalk units can connect with SPIRIT units using regular Bluetooth pairing. G and Q units need to be in phone pairing mode before starting the pairing process.

How do I pair to a non-Cardo headset using universal connectivity?

Start intercom pairing on your Cardo unit according to the pocket guide or user manual. On the other Bluetooth headset, start mobile phone pairing and wait for the pairing process to complete.

Can I listen to music and be part of the intercom at the same time?

Yes. Music streaming and intercom can be active at the same time. When someone in the intercom network speaks, the Cardo unit automatically lowers the music volume so the conversation can be heard clearly.

Something stopped working on my SPIRIT unit. What should I do?

Before trying other solutions, reset the unit to factory settings. Press the Intercom/Mobile, Volume Up, and Volume Down buttons together for at least 5 seconds until the LED starts flashing purple and the unit turns off. Then turn the unit back on.

Why can’t I get the full range of Intercom out of my unit?

The stated intercom range is tested under optimal conditions. Actual range may be affected by obstacles and environmental factors such as mountains, trees, power lines, topography, cellular towers, riding environment, and line of sight.

Are there limitations in using the music sharing feature?

Music sharing is possible between FREECOM X and SPIRIT units, but it is not possible to share music with other generations of Cardo units.

Is it possible to use my own earbuds or speakers?

Yes. You can use compatible earbuds or aftermarket speakers through the 3.5mm jack port.

Do I need a phone to operate my unit?

The intercom and FM radio functions are phone independent. A phone or another Bluetooth media player is required for music streaming, while a phone is required for making and receiving calls.

How can I get more range from the intercom?
