EBC Brake Pads - GPFA604/4HH Grand Prix - 1 Set
EBC Grand Prix GPFAX Sintered Road Race Brake Pads are designed exclusively for closed-circuit racing and provide an extremely high friction level for maximum braking performance. The new GPFAX compound replaces the previous GPFA compound and is engineered for race tyres, prepared asphalt surfaces and demanding track conditions.
Features
- Race-use-only brake pad designed for closed-circuit applications.
- GPFAX is the new compound that replaces GPFA.
- Highest known performance friction level, with friction levels between 0.6 and 0.7.
- Provides an extremely high brake effect for racing applications.
- Designed for use with race tyres or slicks on prepared asphalt surfaces.
- Zero brake fade is guaranteed under suitable race conditions.
- Excellent heat stability for consistent racing performance.
- Designed to provide strong brake feedback and predictable lever control.
- High friction level builds from approximately 0.6 to as high as 0.7 during use.
- Minimum stop friction level of approximately 0.65 helps maintain consistent braking performance.
- Improved wear characteristics compared with previous materials.
- Designed to cause lower rotor/disc damage than previous materials.
- Expected to provide approximately 4-5 typical race events of 20-25 laps, depending on riding and track conditions.
- Contains no toxic lead, nickel or zinc.
- Guaranteed for lifetime performance.

Race-Only Performance
The GPFAX compound delivers an exceptionally high friction level and is specifically developed for ideal track conditions. Its high heat stability and resistance to brake fade provide racers with strong braking confidence, feedback and control throughout repeated race use.
Rotor and Pad Wear
The new material is designed to wear better and cause less rotor or disc damage than previous materials. Brake pads should be discarded when less than 2.5 mm of friction material remains to help avoid fluid vapor lock caused by excess piston fluid volume.
Preparing Race Discs and Rotors
Before installing this compound, remove any grey glaze or carbon residue from the brake rotor using fine abrasive paper or a suitable scratch pad. Take care not to create deep scratches on the rotor, as these can significantly increase bedding-in time.
Bedding In New Brake Pads
- After installation, ride for 2 laps while applying the brakes gently and well in advance of the desired stopping point, without exceeding 80 MPH.
- Continue for another 2-3 laps while gradually increasing the brake load until the pads feel stable and predictable.
- Bedding in can take significantly longer when using worn or distorted discs or rotors.
- Inspect every brake pad after each race for wear.
- Replace the pads when any individual pad reaches 2.5 mm of friction material remaining or when the brake lever becomes spongy.
Brake Fluid Considerations
Old brake fluid can negatively affect brake feel and contribute to a spongy lever. Glycol-based brake fluids are hygroscopic and can absorb moisture over time, even through brake lines. In severe cases, brake fluid can contain significant amounts of water by volume.
It is highly advised to replace brake fluid at least every 6-8 race events using a high wet boiling point racing fluid such as Maxima Race Fluid. Always use brake fluid from a sealed container. Do not use fluid from a bulk can or drum because it may have already absorbed moisture during storage.

Important Safety Information
This brake pad compound is for RACE USE ONLY and is not intended for highway or street use. It is not ECE R 90 approved or TÜV tested and may be illegal for road use in many countries. Do not use this compound with highway tyres or for normal street riding. Use only in appropriate closed-circuit racing conditions with suitable race tyres and properly prepared surfaces.
Style: Set Per Rotor / RACE USE ONLY (NOT FOR HIGHWAY NOR STREET USE)
