Installation Guide
Please follow the installation procedure carefully to achieve smooth clutch operation and the desired reduction in clutch effort. Professional installation is recommended if you are unsure about the procedure.
- Remove the OE Cable: Remove the clutch cable head from the clutch lever. Loosen the lock nuts at the engine yoke and remove the cable head from the engine yoke.
- Install the Easy Clutch Cable: Insert the 2B cable into the engine end by following the reverse procedure of cable removal. Keep the lock nuts adjusted to provide maximum cable slack during installation.
- Route the Cable: Route the Easy Clutch cable through an unobstructed path, avoiding sharp bends or interference with other motorcycle components.
- Connect the Lever: Insert the 2A cable head into the clutch lever by following the reverse process of removal.
- Check Operation: Operate the clutch lever several times and ensure smooth movement before making the final adjustment.
Clutch Release Point Adjustment
For optimal clutch operation, adjust the clutch release point to approximately 50% of the clutch lever travel.
- Release Point Below 40%: Thread out the adjuster on the right or left side of the Easy Clutch housing until the desired release point is achieved.
- Release Point Above 60%: Thread in the adjuster on the right or left side of the Easy Clutch housing until the desired release point is achieved.
- Further Adjustment: If additional adjustment is required, use the cable adjuster at the engine end.
- Adjustment A: Brings the clutch release point closer to the hand grip.
- Adjustment B: Moves the clutch release point further away from the hand grip.
Clutch Free Play & Safety
Correct clutch free play is essential for smooth gear shifting, proper clutch engagement and long clutch life.
- Excessive Free Play: The clutch may not disengage fully, causing difficulty when changing gears or selecting neutral. This can result in an early release point below 40%.
- Insufficient Free Play: The clutch may not engage fully, potentially causing clutch slip, reduced performance and premature clutch wear.
- Always check the clutch operation and release point after installation and adjustment.
- Test the motorcycle thoroughly before riding in traffic or on long-distance journeys.
Maintenance
For smooth and reliable operation, lubricate the OE clutch cable using WD-40 or an appropriate cable lubricant before installation and whenever required as part of regular maintenance.
Fitment Note: The supplied information specifies the EC 245 as being designed for motorcycles with cable-operated clutch systems in the 750cc and above category. Please verify the clutch cable configuration and model-specific compatibility before installation.
Important Information
- This product is a mechanical clutch assist system and does not electronically control the clutch.
- Proper cable routing and clutch adjustment are essential for safe operation.
- Do not operate the motorcycle if the clutch does not disengage or engage correctly after installation.
- Always verify clutch free play, release point and gear shifting before riding.
Disclaimer
Improper installation, incorrect cable routing or incorrect clutch adjustment may cause clutch drag, clutch slip, difficult gear shifting or premature clutch wear. Follow the installation and adjustment instructions carefully and ensure the clutch operates correctly before riding. Professional installation is recommended if required.
